Piste Ski Touring on the Maiskogel

The pistes and infrastructure of the Maiskogel are primarily intended for skiers and snowboarders who ride up the mountain by lift. However, ski tourers are allowed to use the pistes of the Maiskogel between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m, on Wednesdays until 8 p.m. Ski tourers do so at their own risk and must obey the piste rules shown below.

Local bylaws prohibit any use of the pistes whatsoever from Thursday until Tuesday between 6 p.m. and 8 a.m. of the following day and on Wednesday between 8 p.m. and 8 a.m. of the following day.

We ask you to obey these regulations for your own safety!

New ascent route: Skitour-Maiskogel

The newly marked track for touring skiers who are climbing the Maiskogel provides a safe alternative right at the edge of the piste. The route begins at Maiskogel parking area "Maiskogelbahn" (near the Kaprun Center) and leads all the way up to the Almbahn mountain terminal, elev. 1,733 m (ca. 970 m vertical gain / ca. 6,5 km total length) and to the
3K K-onnection valley station, 1,570 m (ca. 800 m gain / ca. 6,2 km). Depending on your stamina and what you are in the mood for, you have the option to end your tour at various points, then safely ski down the piste back to the valley.
